Myths. They are everywhere. Proliferating from the mouth, myths have also crept into the dental space. Myths arise from ignorance and here in this post, let us dispel the ignorance that people have about the dental sector by addressing some common concerns

Myth number 1 – Brushing harder makes you teeth cleaner

Whilst this was being perpetrated in the wrong impression that Aggressive brushing can perish germs, the truth is that this can actually harm your teeth by eroding the enamel inside. So consult a dentist to check if your teeth probably need a hard toothbrush or a softer one and change your brushing patterns accordingly.

Myth number 2 – Brushing and flossing to be avoided during gum bleeding

To the contrary, Regular brushing and flossing are to be done to avoid the buildup of plaque and other germs in your gums. Professional cleaning might have to be done if the bleeding of the gums persists.

Myth number 3 – Chewing gums is a substitute for brushing

It is not. This myth is perpetuated by lazy people who believe that chewing gum is an equivalent to brushing and flossing. Chewing gum may definitely freshen the mouth but it is in no way a substitute for other vital purposes.

Myth number 4 – Tooth bleaching weakens the teeth

There is a medley of bleaching products available in the market that is used to keep your teeth white and shining. They generally don’t cause any harm if used as per instructions. While bleaching does affect the tooth sensitivity for a short while, in the long term it causes nothing more than a colour change.

Myth number 5 – An aspirin on your teeth can relieve your toothache

The only way to take an aspirin is to gulp it and to stop the production of hormone that causes pain. Any other way of consumption doesn’t solve the existence of pain.

Myth number 6 – You don’t have to visit a dentist regularly

It is necessary we undertake regular visits to the dentist to make sure that our gums are in top health. Dentists help evaluate your teeth and make sure that any fault is detected early. As the saying goes, Prevention is better than cure.

Myth number 7
– Tooth alignment is not mandatory

To the contrary, Tooth alignment is essential to make sure that you don’t feel pain in other parts of your body. When alignment is not done properly, you might even experience pain in jaw or head.

Myths emerge from ignorance. So it is essential that we arm ourselves with knowledge of our teeth to make sure that our dental area is sanitized and we don’t suffer from any ailments. Always consulting a dentist before any major dental decision is a good way to go. Each person is unique and different. So, as individuals there is no one solution for every problem.

So Let us stay away from the myths and seek in the path of knowledge to make sure our body stays in top health.
